This image was obtained from the apical window of a patient with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma with peri-aortic involvement. Important thing to note here is that the aorta appears to be distanced from the heart and there is an unusual echogenic cushioning around it (= lymphoma). Below is the labeled image (it is similar to PLAX but obtained from the apex).Example of normal location of aorta in similar view (image obtained from a patient with low EF)CT scan showed markedly enlarged left retrocrural lymph node or lymph node conglomerate measuring approximately 10.7 x 8.4 cm in the axial plane. The lymph node mass was encasing the aorta, extending superiorly into the mediastinum.
